We are rolling right along with the 21 Day Challenge and set to begin another day. Today’s task is to stop going through the motions.
Be Consistent
We all do it. We get tired, we get complacent, we lack motivation. We show up, but we bring little effort with it. Well, today I’m here to call you out.
Whether it be throwing, hitting, fielding, or training, just showing up is not the key. You need to put in quality effort if you expect to get quality results. Results are not instant, so it’s easy to forget why you are putting in all this work. Just think back to your mission statement and goals you set in the first two days of this challenge. That should help you re-focus.
Here are a few other things to keep in mind when so that you can have a quality practice session:
- Move with purpose – Start with a quality warm-up and know the movements. Focus on executing them perfectly. As I said before, “going through the motions” will not get it done, and you will probably do more harm than good by teaching your body poor movement patterns.
- Keep your mouth in check – When warming up with a group of teammates or other athletes, keep the discussions to how you are going to dominate the workout or practice. You can talk about school, girls, or the latest movie later on your own time. Now’s the time to DO WORK!
- Be a leader – Whether you are the captain of the team or not, you can always lead by example. If you notice someone needs help with their swing or fielding, by all means, help coach them up. Teaching can be a great way for you to improve your understanding of the game and reinforce your good habits.
Stay focused, stay consistent, stay committed.
